Virtual Desktop Infrastructure

Desktop virtualization in the enterprise is the logical further development of server and storage virtualization. Instead of a single component or application, the entire PC desktop is virtualized in the data center.

The PC has revolutionized companies, making working without it unimaginable. The productivity resulting from the use of traditional PCs requires considerable investment. Many of these costs have been well documented over the years, while many of the hidden costs have only come to light in recent years.

Expensive hardware replacement cycles are nothing new, nor are extensive help desks and numerous IT staff to maintain IT operations. Costs related to security and compliance requirements for desktops and laptops, however, are more difficult to quantify. The same applies to sensitive data stored locally on employees' computers.

The purchase, commissioning, and securing of standard PCs require a high level of time and financial expenditure, which should be centralized and reduced by providing virtual desktops.
